A fractured spine is not spinal stenosis, however it can cause spinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis is a condition in which the spinal canal narrows and puts pressure on the spinal cord. Sometimes fragments of bone from a spinal fracture can penetrate the spinal canal, causing spinal stenosis.
