<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Safe for Multiple Uses
Sterilite microwave heatables are injection-molded plastic containers used to store food. According to Sterilite's customer information web site, Sterilite microwave heatables are safe for use in the freezer, microwave and dishwasher.
On the Other: Not a Risk for Toxins
The Chicago Conservation Corps reviewed plastic containers and sorted products based on which may contain harmful chemicals--such as dioxins or bisphenol A--that could leach into food when heated. Although many microwaveable plastic products posed a risk, all Sterilite products earned a recommendation from the Chicago Conservation Corps' Green Guide as safe from toxins or hazardous chemicals.
Bottom Line
Sterilite microwave heatables are safe for use in freezers, microwaves and dishwashers, and they do not pose a health hazard because of dangerous chemicals.
