Nurses are an indispensable part of the medical field. People who want a career in nursing can pursue different levels of education to achieve their goal.
Degrees
To become a nurse, you must earn an associate degree or bachelor's degree in nursing or graduate from a nursing diploma program.
Time Frame
Associate and bachelor's degree programs take two and four years to complete respectively. A nursing diploma program takes roughly three years to finish.
Certification
Regardless of which level of education you complete, you will still have to pass a test to become a certified nurse.
Upkeep
No matter which level of qualification you have as a nurse, you will need additional classes every few years to remain current on your skills and knowledge in the field.
Career Path
Deciding what type of nurse you want to be is important in choosing which type of education to pursue. Some nursing specialties require that a person have at least a bachelor's degree.
