  • Yes, telephone marketers once or twice...;)
  • Yes, at least twice, to my knowledge. I am quite gullible and believe practically everything I am told, especially when I am in love and not applying the wisdom of my mind to the heart.
  • I've been lied to.
  • My employer Royal Mail are forever trying it on , thank God for our Union. In this day and age I would find it very difficult to be conned as I'm sceptical about everything now and will go through everything with a fine toothcomb before I commit myself.
  • -5 for not knowing the category system.
  • When I was younger I sent $60 for the stuff envelopes at home, make thousands of dollars a week scam. I was an idiot for sure.
  • Currently I am. I was scammed, along with many others by dvddonkey.com. They pretend to sell hard to find dvds or boxed sets. I am trying to find out more information on them. I know that they have used several aliases such as TVAddicts.tv, and DVDAvenue.tv, and more. My card was charged by 1-877-TV-SERIES but from what I hear, I will never get the dvds. I was conned out of $117.00. They offer a live chat and even have a button to connect live. But the company they have listed on their site, liveperson, is not affiliated with them. I spoke to a lady in their general counsel department. Please contact me if you have had a run in with these people.
  • Yes. I'm not going to say what it was as there is still a chance I may see this person again, I do not want to prejudice my jury.
  • Yes. When I was about 18 I responded to this ad to get a list of government auctions in my area. They said that they needed to verify that I had a bank account first. I gave them my checking account number, but no other information- not my social security number, routing number, pin number, nor any other information but my name. I even repeated on the phone that I did not authorize them to make any withdrawals. Two days later I had a withdrawal of $109 from my account to a sham company. I contested it, but the company declared bankruptcy or went out of business or something and I was unable to recover my costs. In retrospect, it was very stupid of me to do. However, I was young and naive and it turned out to be a learning experience for me. Now I am EXCEPTIONALLY cautious of scams and don't give out any information at all about myself.
  • Aimeebiz I'm with you on this one. I placed an order that totaled $107 on October 26th with these guys. They billed my credit card that day but it is now November 21st and I have yet to see a confirmation email. I obviously haven't received the dvd's. I tried to send a message through the websites dvdavenue.tv and tvaddicts.tv but got an error. I also tried the live chat but after putting my info in the screen disappeared. I did get an email from orders@tvaddicts.tv asking for my order number when I clearly stated in my request that I did not receive one. I think we've both been had. Any idea what to do now?
  • No but my mums friend almost was. She was in Bali and some Jeweller sold her a ring that was supposed to have a diamond secure in it. The ring slipped off her finger about 3 days later and the "diamond" smashed. She took it back and asked for a refund. The owner was saying "We never sold that to you." over and over. That pissed her off she said she would smash up the place if she didn't have the refund so he called the cops. The cops came and took him away after she got her refund.
  • I've been ripped off for $82.00 for services not rendered. In my opinion, lesson learned.
  • off the top of my head i can't think of anything but i'm sure i have. let me think about it. Have you?
  • Not that I could remember!
  • I've had people try to get me into pyramid schemes... I refused. I've had a bunch of phishing e-mails sent to me, but I never responded. The closest thing I've had to scamming is the eBay fraud I've had to deal with (chargebacks, people not sending items I've paid for, having items in horrible condition that wasn't in the photos, etc).
  • Nooooo...one would have to be gullible to the point of believing in an invisible sky dweller for that but I do have a lot of fun with them thou
  • About the closest I've come, is being mass DR'd by a sock puppet.
  • No but they tried. Russians on rosarypea.com pretend to be beatiful young guys falling in love with you, then asking for money to fly to you. All I did was talk nasty to them as they write rubberstamp love letters to me. You have to be on guard for scams, especially people who contacted you.
  • Please everyone be careful not to be taken in by most of the scams...specially the Emails from those crazy Nigerians on the other African Coast. BE SAFE!!!
  • I fell head over heals for a con man, he has taken all my savings and also broken my heart-- Is there anyone out there who has a place I can trn for help??
  • Numerous times...you don't want to know.
  • Yes, I've been a victim of identity theft. About 1½ years ago someone got hold of my personal info, SSN, home address, DOB, everything. Before you ask, I don't know how they got it. Personal info is sold via clandestine websites all around the world. Last I heard, they sell 100 ID's for $20. I'm sure that varies. I've had items purchased in my name in half a dozen states. Each time, I have to prove that I'm NOT the one who made the purchase. The most expensive item was a used SUV for $23k. I've put a "freeze" on my credit at all three credit bureaus (TransUnion, Equifax, Experian) and I'm waiting to see what happens. So far, so good.
  • Yes, I was in a Inn in Hong Kong, then this lady voluteer to share rooms with me, when I went to the bathroom, she secretly took my money, good thing I still have a few money left so I can return home. Never never trust a stranger even if you have the same nationality. She's willing to help so she can get my money from my wallet when I'm not looking. Good thing, I have a round trip ticket. But I was also ripped off by the travel agency, my ticket is for three months expense but the immigration in Hong Kong said I can only stay for two weeks. Lesson learned, This won't happen to me ever again.
  • i got ripped off by the auto industry, its true what they say about salesmen.and mechanics.i guess every industry has liars and crooks.
  • yes...the Russian Dating Group Editing Scam I wasted about 10hrs editing letters. see.... https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=28967348&postID=9192930998946643136&isPopup=true
  • I have been scammed once. There was a shop in town centre, that was selling things on Ebay for you, they deduct $10 and you get the rest. I had them sell a Dooney and Bourke handbag for me, they had tons of stuff! Handbags, jewellry, designer clothes and even a motorcycle! 2 weeks later, i was supposed to go back and pick up my handbag or the money, and when i went back - nothing was there. Its like a bussiness was never there. I checked back every other day, called and everything. I even saw other people who were scammed checking back like me. I filed a complaint, but nothing ever happened.
  • Well, I sold magazine subscriptions door-to-door one summer in highschool. Oh, you mean the *victim*? No. ;-)
