  • It would be possible to harvest forests in an evironmentally friendly way. Given how long it takes trees to grow however it would be much easier to harvest things that grow faster. Paper can be made from other plant sources, and we can build houses from different materials. The one problem that exists even today with the harvesting of forests is that demand for wood has outpaced the rate at which wood replenishes itself. Wood harvests are also at the mercy of forest fires and beetles which could ruin an entire crop. When a crop takes many years to reach maturity that could be a serious issue.
