  • Any zoo is great with the exception of The Beardsley Zoo in Connecticut, that place is awful.
  • The National Zoo in D.C. is nice. They got pandas.

But back in the 80s, they also had Ham the chimp, our national hero who was first to come back from space. He had been kept there alone in a plain white cell like a prisoner for 17 years.
  • I personally love the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans. It's a beautiful zoo with a good variety of exhibits. I really like the way they are arranged by continents. Besides it's in New Orleans, how cool is that?
  • Your home, but their already there!.. Just kidding! I hear San Diego is good.

San Diego zoo is very pretty, not very big. The nearby Safari Park is massive and you can take a jeep ride through the park.
  • The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha is one of the top zoos in the nation. They have the worlds largest indoor rainforest, the worlds largest indoor desert exhibit and the worlds largest nocturnal exhibit. They also have a world class aquarium and many other wonderful exhibits. It is great for kids and adults alike. Price is reasonable as well.
  • I've been to the Bronx Zoo, Cincy & Pittsburgh. The Bronx zoo is so large, you cannot possibly take in every exhibit in one day. The Philly zoo was very old fashioned and very depressing for the animals (at least about 10 years ago). For small children, you might try some smaller zoos if you happen by Lincoln Park or the Central Park zoo. Also, Academy of Science in Golden Gate Park. Of course, if you want to count the commercial places, there's Hershey Park, Busch Gardens, Disney and Six Flags.
  • 6-13-2017 I have been to only a few, but San Diego was the most pleasant. Here is a tour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7mdRab-Cog
  • The Brookfield, outside of Chicago. It's one of the very best in the country, though I'm reaching the conclusion that zoos should probably not be perpetuated, despite the good and important work they've done in terms of research and saving endangered species. There's a piece in today's New York Times Sunday Review that discusses this issue, including the major downsides for the animals.
  • Best for me would be the one that's just 4 mi. from my house! The Birmingham Zoo.
  • San Diego Zoo
