  • My suggestion is to clean up your computer, remove unwanted or unused programs, run a virus scan (deep and complete scan) run a program like AdAware from lavcasoft (totally free ad/spyware remover) then get a list of your manufacturers: i.e. Who made your computer (Gateway? Dell? Denatured Mother of Spirits (Joke one)??) Who makes your graphics card and drivers? is it http://www.nvidia.com/page/home.html Nvidia? If so then get the number/model/type of yours and see if there are any updated drivers for it. When it comes to the sims a lot of leaks and crap comes with downloaded textures, models (walls, floors, cloths, objects, furniture) The more you have in your computer for the game to sort through the slower the game will go. This applies to the First SIMS, The sims ultra/Delux- added on with dates and etc. Sim City1, 2000, 3000, 4 and Rush Hour. EA games Maxis has pushed the envelope with these games so make certain that you are running the optimal not the minimal on the stats sheet for Sims 2: http://thesims2.ea.com/help/detail.php?help_id=21 Please to note the supported video cards on that page and see if yours matches. Also check to make certain you have the latest patches for the game as well, patches are tuned to the drivers of most graphics cards, although they are supposed to run with older drivers, sometimes the newer versions will frak the driver software. http://thesims2.ea.com/update/?pid=Help_patches
  • I had that happening to my computer a lot. I would get two sims together to have a baby, or talk on the phone, or even sit down together to eat, and they would just jump up or rather "transport" to a standing position. That was just one couple. Another woman, everytime she would go to have her baby, the application would crash. I read the manuals and almost considered calling support when I read that sometimes your virus scanner will crash the application. I turned off the virus scanner (this computer is not connected to the internet right now so I didn't worry too much.) Two things: 1. I have downloaded expansion packs, three in all, after turning off the virus scanner but before playing the game and that may have something to do with it. 2. VERY IMPORTANT!! If you use any cheats like boolProp testingcheatsenabled (not including "motherlode" or "kaching"), REMEMBER TO CLOSE IT!!! I have crashed a computer before because I left the cheat open too long and then turned off the game without closing it. Also, I found that the longer I leave that cheat open, the more glitches I see in game play. Basically, if you don't already know, "boolProp TestingCheatsEnabled True" is open, "boolProp TestingCheatsEnabled False" is closed. Hope that helped. P.S. My game is going kinda slow right now, not sure if it's the expansion packs, but the couple is absolutely fine not and the other woman had her baby without the game crashing or any known effects to my computer.
