I live about 6 miles from the blind thrust fault that caused the 1994 "Northridge" earthquake: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northridge_earthquake I live about 50 miles from the 800-miles long San Andreas fault, which is part of the boundary between the Pacific (on which I live) and North American plates.
