  • Because he was an amazing man whose music touched hundreds of millions of people, of course. It's only natural to mourn the loss of it.
  • CUZ HE WAS THE THRILLER!!! It was one of the first video's of its kind... HE had a beautiful voice, he was a small kid...with a ruff life... HE was mentally abused by his family man. He could dance like no other...OW! He grew up and had issues... Who knows if he touched the kids, or if the women just wanted his money... Wonder, intriguing...he was confused...but still loved. ...He was just this guy, tryin to make it...searching for happiness.. He was mysterious... He was the prince of pop....MIKEY
  • because he grew up in the public eye...we watched him grow since he was a little boy...
  • Think of how many people he touched when he was alive...literally and figuratively
  • They've lost all sense of proportion. This is quite literally making a mountain out of a molehill.
  • I have absolutely no frikkin idea?
  • He was a lover of music and of touching people, and monkeys
  • Because he was the most talented person in American history and he made countless memorable moments for me and millions of other people. He also was a humble and loving person who tried to make positive changes for everyone, and didn't give a shit about patting himself on the back or being rich. I feel like a Brother died.
  • It's the same thing that happens with most every celebrity.
  • I don't want it TOUCHING me and I don't know why people like it TOUCHING them.

  • I think it depends on the person. I've always liked Michael Jackson's music and thought he was a great entertainer. I was raised in the early 80's in a family that loved its rock. Madonna and Michael Jackson were always on the radio. Right now, with so much of his music playing, I feel like a part of my childhood has come back. Heck, I don't even picture his freakish face first anymore. It's back to before the surgeries in my mind.
  • He was a legend like Elvis P.
  • It has touched me because I grew up listening to his music. There are literally significant points in my life that I associate with a Michael Jackson song. My love of dancing and music was hugely influenced by him. It's actually really hard to put into words why his death has touched me and affected me the way it has. He was iconic. He was the myth, the man, the legend. He was an entertainer of epic, phenomenal proportions. The music industry lost a giant.
  • I get kind of annoyed when people are all mad cause his death got so much coverage and a normal noncelebrity person's death wouldnt have. A normal noncelebrity didn't touch a million people with their music while they were alive. I dont personally like Michael Jackson, I liked who he used to be. But he was important to so many people, and THATS why he got so much coverage. I dont hear anyone complaining about Farrah Fawcett getting coverage?
  • Because his life and work touched so many people -- in both good and bad ways. His musical talents are undeniable; his personal failings have occupied a substantial place in the public consciousness. It's only natural for people to reflect on the fact that he's not around anymore -- and incorporate that new fact into their understanding of the man. It seems so extraordinary because of the number of people who are going through that process all at the same time.
  • His music is known worldwide, even though he was a little....ummmm...different, his skill and entertaining ability superceded that. Thriller sold the most albums in the whole world lol.
  • The Media won't stop broadcasting every moment of file footage they can find. You literally cannot get away from the onslaught.
  • I can only answer for myself and speculate that there are others who feel the same way. Michael Jackson was like 'Corn Flakes" (i grew up on that cereal) and for me, I grew up listening to his music as far back as I can remember. Road trips before the parents divorced, the radio playing in the VW Squareback, the Jackson 5's "Got to be There" playing in the back ground and me and my bothers singing. It connects me back to my childhood, my adolescence and early adulthood dancing in clubs. Through all of the rumors, and bizarre behavior, the music is what I loved and still love.
  • he was family. he was family to all his fans.
