If the moon was some how destroyed, how would it effect our planet?

it would affect the tides, the currents, the temperature, the weather, the animal territory and living areas and the coastlines.

the tifes would no longer rise and fall, this would effect the fishing industry and require us to re-think our docks. then the ocean currents would experence subtle changes, with hugh effects. i am not sure how far the changes would go or how badly the effects would effect our weather. also without the moon our tilted axis would be less exaggerated...if still present at all. that would end or diminish seasonal weather. without seasons then wildlife would become dis-oriented. flowers and birds would be the first hit...then ice caps would experence steadier heat, melting them ...this would further destroy the ocean currents and cause very powerful weather patterens that could potentially end life on half the planet. then we would experience an ice age(we are still pulling out of our last ice age according to some scientist). everything about this planet would change as the ripple of results devastates ecosystems, weather, temperture, and living conditions. we would survive but lose much of our progress in science and technology

If the moon was destroyed the axis of the earth would greatly change and the earth would spin out of control and be destroyed.This would happen within hours of the moon being destroyed.

No more romantic moonlit strolls on the beach, no more would werewolves howl, and the man in the moon would be disfigured and would never show his face again. A terrible predicament.

The answers about the lack of tides bring up the most important result. Without he ebb and flow of the oceans, a lot of sea life would cease. The tide lands are main reproductive areas for plants and animals. As well as a source of food for critters that don't breed there, land and sea critters both. Tidal forces also act on the Earth in other ways, the internal liguid parts, and even solid parts affecting earth quakes. More importantly, song writers would have to come up with a whole 'nother set of rhymes. The words 'spoon,' 'noon,' and 'June' would just sit around languishing, dreaming of their past glory, seeking consolation from 'goon,' who knows the enui of not being in a hit song. " Blue nothing of Kentucky keep on shinin" "Shine on, shine on harvest emptyness, up in the sky" " Fly me to the nowhere" The whole situation would drive me loony, ummm...

Any force powerful enough to destroy the moon is likely to destroy everything on the earth's surface. The moon's debris would wipe out anything accidentally left alive.

I image in would have a great impact of the circulation of the Earth's core along with the tectonic plates. Just a guess mind you.

Depends on HOW it was destroyed. If it plowed into the earth, it would probably wipe all life off of the earth. If it were struck by a rogue object, it could be knocked out of its orbit, or broken up into a pretty set of rings to circle the earth. We'd lose much of but not all of our tides, which might intefere with many biological clocks throughout the biosphere. And of course, sea turtles and grunion would be lost.
