  • I've heard that digital data virtually lasts forever, but if the memory card is mistreated, the saved data won't last at all. I.e turning the console off or resetting or pulling out the memory card or removing the controller when saving/loading.
  • The PS2 memory card uses Flash memory, like in digital cameras and MP3 players. Flash memory has an estimated life span ranging from 10,000 to 1 million erase/rewrite cycles. Assuming the low end of 10,000 cycles, the card should last many years, even if storing game data several times daily. Be careful to avoid static electricity, high temperatures, and physical abuse.
