  • it's a vaulting trick.You do a half-on onto the vaulting horse and do a backtuck off.
  • The Tsukahara vault, first performed by Mitsuo Tsukahara, is a 1/4 turn entry (round-off) entry onto the horse, and a back salto out. Before the acceptance of the vaulting "table," female gymnasts performed this vault as a 1/2 twist entry. The reason for the 1/2 turn entry was that for female gymnasts, the horse was positioned perpedicular (side-horse) to the runway instead of inline (long-horse) like it was for male gymnasts. Now, with the vaulting "table," female and male gymnasts are able to perform the Tsukahara vault with the identical technique (although the 1/2 turn entry is still an accepted entry for female gymnasts).
