Under or over?
-
I've cooked over a campfire before using my cast iron equipment, yes. I rather enjoy it!
-
Yes, quite often.
-
Under and over, with cast iron pots. IN a firepit in the ground, and also with a raised one we made.
-
Frequently. We would take foil, put meat, corn, potatoes, onions, peppers, and mushrooms in it with a pat of butter, salt, and pepper. Then we would wrap it up, encase that in another sheet of foil, and stick them in the embers to cook. Nummy.

Yeah, loved every moment of it. We went backpacking a few years back and our stuff was mauled by bears so we had no food. To survive for the next few days we salvaged what we could and build fishing rods and caught fish. Then started a campfire and cooked a few fish. 2 fish a person, so 8 fish all together. It was probably the best fish I had ever eaten in my life.
-
Yes. Potatoes.
-
not entirely, but get those potatoes in, and let them sit in the dying embers for about an hour, cacked black on the outside, open them up, plenty of salt and pepper and a bit of butter, and whamo, almost a meal, and sooo delicous.:0

Nope

Yep... Back in Boy Scouts. Dutch ovens - Barbecued Chicken, Rice, Veggies, and Brownies... The brownies every time we camped out. (I know... I was the maker! LOL)
-
Under and over, I have a dutch oven and cast iron cookware.

Hells yeah.
-
not a whole meal, but I usually cook my potatoes/sweet potatoes that way, wrapped in foil, when I'm camping.
