  • If you are looking for something low keyed, yes. If you google Ave of the Giants, Miranda or phillipsville calif, you will see what there is to offer. The 26 mile drive in the heart of the redwoods where your car winds in and out amongst some of the tallest trees in the world is breath taking. You feel like a miniature person amongst the trees. They have a tree you can drive thru too. Other than looking at ornate victorian homes in the village of ferndale there isn't a whole lot to do. You could make your way to San Francisco though which is approx. 4.5 hours away. On your way South not too far from Phillipsville is the Benbow Inn. Its very old style charm lies right along the river adjacent to a golf course. It is a lovely inn and very charming. Celebrities actually stay there. My daughter worked part time there until she went to college. Just seeing those huge trees is amazing and no matter how long I live there I don't take it for granted.
