  • indeed. he's the most wonderful cat ever (not to sound like the old cat woman who lives in your apartment complex).
  • Three of mine do! They really like playing fetch with paper balls and the rings off of juice containers. Schizo, as shown below, will do it for hours if you let her. But she will only do it when the other cats aren't playing too.
  • I used to roll up aluminum foil into a ball and throw it. it was shiny and my cats loved it. They were both very good retrievers. They got it and hopped up on the chair or sofa in my lap and dropped it, waiting for me to throw it again. It was fun until I got tired, and they still wanted to run. :)
  • My two Siamese play fetch with tin foil, catnips mice, paper, etc...but ONLY when THEY want to!
  • One cat does, the other doesn't. The little one likes to fetch the rings of beverages the best, then foil balls and paper balls (not dissimilar to the other cats mentioned already). She used to bring them back over and over again, but not so much now she is getting more 'mature'.
  • haha i thought my cat was the only one that does. he will run after and bring it back. and he carries things around the house in his mouth. and if you try to take it... he will swat at you and try to hide it from you.
  • My inlaw's have a kitten that fetches - it just doesn't return the item it's chased down and pounced on.
  • No, but when I play fetch with my dog, the cat will run right behind him up and down the hallway.
  • that's a dogs game
  • Yes, my cat did play fetch, he loved it and all my friends were amazed.
  • Yes it does, and then it gets all riled up and starts biting me.
  • He will go after thrown things but he nevers brings them back!
  • Yes, but she never brings it back... So I guest that would actually be sort of plays fetch.
  • Yep, my cats do. One will only chase bouncy balls and bring them back, whilst the other likes slatted balls which he can get his teeth into that don't bounce or make any noise, and then he'll play.
  • Yes, but usually he only likes to use soft objects like socks, which he later hides.
  • Yes, my cat is a mix of an ocelot/wild cat and abysinian and he will fetch his "froggy" and bring it back to you. He is very vocal about it and will get all excited when you say the word "froggy". He jumps in the air to catch it and will chase it down the hall or where ever you throw it. He gets crazy with it. I always wondered if other cats did this.
  • Yeah, he fetches food but for some reason never brings it back. :)
  • My cat Morpheus (as shown below) will just randomly bring one of those balls with the bells in it that you get at PetsMart and drop it at your feet and meow at you until you throw it, then he will tear off around the house after it and bring it back to you meowing the whole time, but it is funny cause if it doesnt go far, like if you hit the couch right next to you and it only goes 5 feet he will just look at you until YOU fetch it and throw it better lol!!
  • I had one who really loved to play fetch. The one I have now likes to unwrap presents. The other one I have likes to bury the caps off water bottles in his cat litter. Mysterious critters are cats.
  • yes, mainly with our feathered friends.
  • i have 2 cats that will fetch and two cats that would rather just lay there being adorable.
  • My cat used to play fetch with his favorite stuffed mouse. Then the mouse was lost and I bought a new one and he wouldn't fetch it. Then we found the old mouse and he still wouldn't fetch anymore. I guess he grew bored of that game.
  • yes..she also plays tag.
  • EXCELLENT question! Yes, my siamese cat plays fetch! He brings the item back (generally a tampon, because of the small size and shape :P) and meows until I throw it again. Here is a picture of my little guy...with his tampon.
  • My current house potatoes don't but we had one kitty that would play fetch for hours at a time. He loved to play pingpong ball, too. We got him to grab a crumblesd up piece of paper and drop it in a cup like basketball. Guests loved it! And he got great exercise. OUr 2 curretn furbags are more the lounge around and nap types. I miss the more active cats.
  • My big tabby has a steady job: Every morning, without fail, he moves one special toy - a red-and-blue Dr. Seuss Thing 1 with long floppy arms - from the bedroom out to the sitting room. Every single evening when we go to bed he moves it from the sitting room back to the bedroom. He always talks while he's doing this, a muffled mrrrowfff mrrrowfff mrrowfff because his mouth is full of toy. He talks while he's picking it up, talks while he's transporting it, and talks till he drops it. Then he presents his head for congratulatory scratching and appreciation. If he only did this sometimes, it wouldn't surprise me so. But it's EVERY single morning and EVERY single night.
  • my two month old kitten LOVES to play fetch!!! he taught himself! its so funny! only with my hairties though.
  • Yeah! It was the weirdest thing ever: when I was little we had Nurf balls and would just throw them around sometimes and the cat would bring them to us... no one believed it. Thought I was the only one.
  • I have a cat that fetches better than my dog. She loves aluminum foil shaped into a ball. She brings it back to me every time!
  • When I am in bed in the morning my cat will bring me her play mouse. She drops it right in front of me. So I'll throw it into the other room and she will bring it back to me. This can go on for up to an hour. If I don't throw it she will start biting my toes! It can get annoying at times!
  • Yes, my male Siamese loves to play fetch, He'll bring his favorite toy - which may be a ring from a water bottle, a rubber braclet or his favorite, a wad of paper and drop it on hand or next to wear I'm sitting and wait for me to throw it. He'll retrieve it and bring it back - over and over again. He's so dog-like such a good cat.
  • I have a couple who have....my siamese is the one who used to the most. she's nearly 11 now, and mostly spends her time running away from the 1 yr old or curled up in a lap or chair sleeping.
  • Yes! My one (the 1 below) does but the other hasn't gotten the idea yet.
  • My four month old kitten plays fetch! She was playing fetch with me with an elastic coated rubber band a few days ago, and I left the house for three hours and when I got back she gave me the rubber band to continue the game.
  • When I had a cat, he did.
  • Yes most siamese and oriental cats will - but try not to play "fetch" with rubber bands or screwed up silver paper, if they eat them, vets bills can appear!
  • not if you are trying it with them..but if i throw stuff for my little dog, they all go chasing after it, gang up on the poor dog and won't let her pick it up and bring it back!!!
  • My cat came up to me on the couch two days ago and dropped the mouse he likes to bat around on my lap. I threw it and he brought it back. Me and my husband were shocked... I didn't know cats did this and hes a year old and this is the first time he's done it.
  • Yes, my kitten fetches and it's actually kinda annoying sometimes...lol.He does this for about 45 min at a time and it gets real boring to me after a while...lol. Throw the ball or his favorite fuzzy toy and he keeps bringing it back over and over again. I actually think it's amazing, never ever in my life had a cat do it before. Oh, and he also loves watching tv and watching people type on the computer...lol
  • yes with our feathery friends more often than not. Oodle 'Tweeter-Beater' Oo, fetches them and I save the ones I can.
  • My cat plays fetch with beer bottle tops! Whenever she hears the sound of a bottle being opened she runs over and demands that we play fetch!
  • Here's a video of here playing fetch with a beer bottle top
  • We just discovered this weekend, quite by accident, that our 9 month old kitten likes to play fetch. There was a small soft cat ball on the bed, and my husband flicked it off the bed. The cat chased after it and returned it to within his reach. He did it again the cat cat repeated the process. This went on at least 30 times. We of course, think he is the smartest cat in the entire world :-)
  • Yes. and it does return most of the time.
