  • For food purposes, yes. Otherwise, no.
  • yes, but be vewwwy vewwwy qwieit
  • To survive if there are no other means, then yes. For sport or to pass on the traditional of killing and gutting animals for pleasure to sons and daughters - no. It makes me sick.
  • I could only do it if I had a starving family.
  • What do you do when you can't find your car keys????
  • It depends on why the hunting is being done. As long as the meat is consumed and not left to rot I believe it is totally acceptable.
  • Of course. Game meat has no hormones, is leaner and the animals are about as "free range" as they come. It's much more humane and healthy to eat only game than to pretend to be humane and purchase your food from the market, wrapped up all prettily in cellophane and pretend that it hasn't been raised in some industrial farm and killed on a conveyor line for your benefit. Just because you don't see the blood, doesn't mean it hasn't occurred.
  • Yes, but, as I always say, as long as you eat what you kill. Someone just shooting it for the fun of it, then no, not ok.
  • If you plan to eat the meat and use the fur or hair then yes. To do it just for fun and sport, no. I wouldn't shoot an animal I didn't plan on eating.
  • if the hunted has a gun to defend itself. no, really i'm not a vegetarian, so i can't talk, but i think that hunting for sport should be done with a bow and arrow to even the odds.
  • Yes. What I don't think is ok is that some people care more about wild animals than human lives.
  • Come love where I am and tell me! The deer herds can grow to 35-40 strong, larger if man doesn't put some cap on the population. We(as mankind) either ran off the predators,or simply killed all of them out of fear and ignorance. When was the last time you heard of a wolf being spotted in the rural areas? How about a pack of coyotes being found near any shopping malls? We have more accidents on rural highways because of the overwhelming deer population, even in the suburbs there have been nuisance permits written for the curbing of the deer population. Is hunting ok,ask the pioneers who founded this country, they had to survive on this action.
  • Absolutely! If you're a creationist then God created those animals for food, dude! And if you're a "biggy banger" (pun intended), then survival of the fittest. They were made for eating! Anywho, I agree that moderation and vegetation is also good for you, but who doesn't like a big hunk of medium-rare filet mignon? Answer: Yes!
  • Yes I think it is fine if it is for food.
  • Yes it keeps the deer population down. I've hit and almost hit deer with my car numerous times.
  • I don't think blasting an unsuspecting animal with a gun is a sport. I think hunting would be better and would actually require skill if guns were taken out of the equation. If hunters used bow and arrows, spears, or sling shots, I would give them a lot more respect...
  • only if you are doing it to feed yourself. it's not ok if your are just doing it for fun.
  • "There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.” - Ernest Hemingway
  • There are people who live on farms and rural areas for whom hunting is like going to the store to get food. I have no problem whatsoever with that. But then you get rich people who want to shoot a hand-raised lion on a game farm so that they can show a picture to their friends back home. Thats just pathetic.
  • Thief and robbery (of another's life) is never ok because you would not want to have your life forcefully robbed away by another. Do not do to others what you don't want others to do to you. Living with such a fair conscience in mind is the mark of a hero. Living without such, is the mark of a parasite who robs from this world by brute force from the weak and helpless. Shoot down one bird and you risk the nestlings in the nest slowly die of thirst and starvation. Mother can't come home to care for you children anymore. Shoot down a mother deer and the baby deer will starve of milk and soon die a horrible death.
  • Depends on what is being hunted... little boys - bad, escaped convicts - good
  • Sure balst a deer and eat him. Just finish him.
  • If you are talking about hunting animals, which i presume you are then i would say yes if you eat the animal and use it properly. Not if you are just going kill it then leave it.
  • Don't like the thought of it. I just like every animal to be free. I am sure this is a controversial subject but you asked.
  • not ok.it is a crime in my india and a sin in religion too
  • yes if you use the animal for meat or skins (and its not endangered) or if it is vermin classified like rabbits and foxes (which give great skins anyway) and only if the kill is quick. Down with trapping. Down With trapping. I'm a good shot so i dont need no stinking traps!
  • u gotta eat.
  • Yes. Not with traps, but fair to the animal.
  • Only in season. Only following the rules. Only for food. Only what you need. Only if you use every part of the animal. Only on foot. Only if you use a fair weapon - no machine gun - no traps - no airplanes - and so on. * No putting out corn and making the animal practically tame before you shoot it. While I do approve of maintaining a hunting area with plenty of edible natural plants for wildlife, I do not approve of putting out grain for them. * And be a good shot. Know your weapon. Know safety rules. Make a clean kill.
  • Only if you eat what you kill. And you obey the rules (seasons, weight limits, etc.).
  • Eat what you kill and I am fine with hunting :)
  • Hunting for food is fine. Hunting for trophies is murder.
  • well, as you are using rubber bullets that just hits animal but does not kill it. It's perfectly fine with me.
  • if your hungry
  • ABSOLUTELY.
  • Like I said to the other Q you gotta eat!!
  • Absolutely. Hunting is a tradition and a necessity that has been handed down for centuries and should never stop. To all the people who say hunting is so horrible and we should only eat store bought organic meat, maybe you should go visit a slaughterhouse then tell me hunting with a rifle is so bad.
  • Depends on what you are hunting......and what with!
  • If you eat it after you shoot it.
  • I don't know. Who are you hunting?
  • As global warming continues, hunting will be even more acceptable as more creatures will stray from their natural habitats. I live in Harlem. We're not supposed to have hawks hunting pigeons down the street, but I saw one a month ago.
  • Absolutely. My family is full of hunters, including myself. It helps control the population, and puts food on my table. we also hunt for sport. It's the circle of life :)
  • As long as it is for food... I think it is wrong to hunt just for sport and not use what you have hunted...
  • As long as the hunter is principled and disciplined, yes. A good hunter: 1. Hunts only for food and clothing, preferably out of need. 2. Studies the habits and life cycle of the animals he hunts so as to have little impact on the species. 3. Practices diligently with his weapons so as to make clean kills. 4. If he does miss the vital areas and wounds the animal, he does not leave it and go looking for another, he tracks that animal and finishes the job so he does not leave the animal to suffer and to die thirsty next to the nearest spring or stream and pollute it. 5. Is not lazy, ie: does not shoot out of a car window from the driver's seat, possibly wounding someone in a passing car. Does not waste an animals life by leaving it in the woods because it died to far from the nearest road to be easily dragged to the car. 6. Is a good woodsman and is careful to protect and even improve the environment. Is careful to selectively cull unhealthy or weak animals so the strong ones can thrive. 7. Asks permission of the landowner and is respectful of their land and possessions. If he finds a gate open, he leaves it open so as not to shut livestock away from water. If he finds a gate closed, he closes it behind him to keep livestock where it belongs. In addition, if he sees a problem on the landowners property, he is happy to serve as an extra pair of eyes and ears to report a cow calving or a fence down or an empty water tank. 8. Practices safety first in EVERY situation. A good hunter should probably have CPR certification and first aid training so that he can help other hunters in the woods. He is always sure of his target, of the location of others and of his backstop before he pulls the trigger.
  • Depending on what is being hunted (and where) of course, hunting for fun, no... hunting to get food to eat, yes.
  • Not any more, no. In times gone by when we hunted for food or to eliminate dangerouse predators it was fair enough. But killing for personal enjoyment just seems sick to me.
  • Not for sport and for survival only if really necessary.
  • With the lack of predators, it's a necessity. Some hunters are into it for the wrong reasons, though -- and I think many hunters will back me up on this.
  • Sort of. Hunting whales is just wrong, because the meat that is obtained isn't really eaten in Japan anymore and most of it goes to waste (according to a recent BBC program I saw). I do not disagree necessarily with Fox Hunting. Although as far as I'm concerned it's not a sport. Having 30+ dogs chasing ONE fox is not giving the animal a sporting chance. I think 5 dogs would be acceptable.
  • Of course it's okay. It provides food and it's considerably less exploitative to animals than factory farming is. If you did even the slightest amount of objective research into factory farming practices you'd understand my point. It's one thing for an animal to be killed for food in it's natural environment, it's quite another for them to be crammed together so tightly they can barely move, pumped up on steroids, tortured by handlers, and fed the flesh of their own offspring. I have little respect for people who have a problem with hunting but eat meat all the same. I know right then and there I'm either dealing with a poser or a complete airhead.
  • I have shot birds. what do they know. I passed on shooting my first deer. I didnt want to be a man anyway. where does one draw the line for killing animals. I killed a rat recently. It was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
  • as long as your going to use the animal you hunt. if you just leave it than its wrong.
  • No. I think it is terrific!
  • i believe it's ok, especially when you are the recipient of deer meat, moose meat and jerky, the hide can also be used for traditional purposes as well
  • In my opinion, if it is done to eat the meat, it is OK. If it is just killing for the fun of hunting and killing, I think it is wrong.
  • as long as you are hunting in season and using the meat then i see nothing wrong with it. hunters are needed to keep animal population under control. +5 how is the flooding, calmed down any ?
  • Sure it is, as long as you consume the animals that you kill. :-)
  • Fugitives, yes. Animals, no.
  • Depends on the reason.
  • Most world religions allow it, but perhaps your ethics are not centered in religion so consider that Animals do it. Plants like the Venetian fly trap do it (throw that in a vegetarians face) Predation is a leading cause of natural selection. To conclude, it doesn't seem that either God or nature condemn it. However, killing for sport - that's not easy to justify.
  • Only if necessary for survival, but never any endangered species.
  • I dont have a problem with hunters, If I actually shot and killed something, I would probably start bawling. manly Im not lol!!
  • It's not ok to hunt other humans. No one questions that. This is because we believe our lives to be more valuable than those lives of other creatures. If we understood the value of those lives and realized they are as valuable as our own then you'd see hunting is wrong. Now it's not wrong for a lion to hunt a deer. Why? A lion is built to hunt and eat a deer. Is a human built to hunt and eat a deer? Well you go running after one and see where it gets you. You'll go hungry without your arrows and bullets I promise.
  • I know people who hunt for their food. I knew this one guy for over 50 years and he goes out and hunts rabbits and wild game~ I don't care for wild game but he knows how to cook wild game so the food is not wasted I don't hunt~and most hunters in the fall go on a three for seven day drinking and partying mode and seldom actually go hunting~and if they do they are more danger to their fellow hunters then the *game>* I see nothing sporting in blowing away a deer but to each his own~~and if I was hungry or liked fish and wild game I would hunt and fish~~but not thanks~~I will be my meat in the grocery store
  • if you live 100 miles from a grocery store you would have to learn the skill to survive.
  • Hunting when done just for leisure and pleasure is sick. You've got to wonder about people who get off on that kind of behaviour. As mentally advanced as humans are many refuse to control base instincts that we no longer need for our survival. Hunting for pleasure, rape and murder are all examples of this kind of dysfunction, but one of those is legal because it involves animals and not humans. We'll get there in the end and look back on a time when hunting for pleasure was allowed and wonder at how primitive we were. I've been thinking of posting a question on the primitivism of hunting for a while; might get around to it this weekend. Be interesting to see what the rednecks have to say about it.
  • Yes. There is nothing wrong with hunting. As long as you do it correctly. You hunt in season, not poaching especially in spring when most animals have young to care for.
  • Since the dawn of man hunting has been an important part of survival...hunting for need is ok...hunting just to kill and you have no intention of using the animal for food or other things...in my opinion is not ok...
  • Yes, I do! Only such nut groups as PETA demonize it.
  • not really to be honest
  • no which is why i dont hunt
  • Heck yes, it's fine. I've been hunting since I was a child. Humans are hunters by nature and always have been.
  • I come from a family of hunters, but no. However, I do eat meat, so who's the hypocrite now? Yes, thanks.
