I have two children recieving Soc. Sec. Benefits The older child will turn 18 this year and finish High School. The younger is still in High School. Is the younger child entitled to a percent of the older child's benefit?

I believe children can receive SS Benefits until 21 if they are in college. I would have said no to your question if I had not learned of a parent receiving benefits from deceased daughts SS. Call your local office.

No, the benefits are separate for each person, however, there is a total family limit. If the family limit was reached when the older child was receiving benefits, and that changes, the benefits might be increased. The best place to get accurate information is to call the social security office and ask them. 1-800-772-1213.
