Could be the battery. If the battery is bad, pushing the gas gives the battery some charge, but let it idle too long and the battery will lose it.

Might be the fuel injector.

Could be your timing is off. Perhaps your spark plugs need changed, maybe a timing belt. Any number of things.

The idle may be set too low.

Air filter, gas filter, fule injector, you might just need to turn up the idle or some kind of combination.

Might be the oxygen sensor.... When mine was bad in my car and I'd stop at a stop light my car would just cut off. I had to put it in nutruel, foot on the brake and foot on the gas. This was especially hard b/c I had a clutch too. UGH it was horrible.
