Yes. But it's better to be pleasant than create a bad atmosphere.
-
If you are basically a nice person and you have no ax to grind or point to prove or activity to justify, I can't how it would be considered insincere. Even if you are in the company of someone who is not your particular favorite, unless you have been grievously damaged by this person being polite and not rude is a good thing as far as I see. :)
-
I can't see how being nice would be a bad thing. Courtesy is vastly under-appreciated, in my opinion.
-
Only if being nice for the sake of being nice is against your normal inclination and you're faking it.
-
No. Sometimes it's the best thing to do.
-
probably so,most people that are acting nice go overboard, having a good attitude is the answer.
-
Not quite, but would rudeness portray sincerity? Wait... It could... I'm lost man
-
No. Civility has a high value for its own sake. Every person has value and deserves respect, courtesy, and congeniality whether we feel like giving it or not. Sometimes by practicing those qualities with people we don't particularly like, we find reasons to be nice and to like those people.
-
If you are truly being nice "just for the sake of being nice," than no, it is not insincere. That does not mean that it can not be perceived as insincerity.
-
It is if there's an emotion you're putting aside to be nice and it's not your natural inclination in the situation.
-
What do YOU think? Only YOU know the answer to this, killdrphil...;)
-
This is one o' those questions containing it's own answer! ;-)
-
No it's polite, and that IS nice.
-
Oh my lord! Not at all! If more people were nice, simply for that reason, I'm betting stress would be cut down by half, wars would end years sooner, the suicide rate would drastically reduce, the list goes on and on.
-
Not at all, unless you have some soft of ulterior motive for being nice.
-
No, polite!
-
depends on how nice. kissing ass is fake, but being polite is appropriate i think. If i dont like someone that i work with, for example, i dont say hi every single time i see them or go out of my way to greet them. But, if they say hello, i smile or say hi back.
-
No.It's having good manners,being civil,getting along...
