  • Could you possibly explain to me why women like to go to the store and shop with their men's money while the men stay at home watching football. I doubt it.
  • Men like action.
  • Because it is a full contact sport and a war-like strategy is used. I love watching the guys in skintight pants bending over playing with the ball.
  • Football is just another "ball" game that is played for points. like this site, it is a points game website. why are you here? for the points, right? if there was a way to gamble on this site for points, then more people would be onthis site. cheer leaders is a big part of "ball" games. its an all family event. we have been hypnotized to love "ball" games. Hockey has a puck, it is round and rolls like a ball. it is something to do...just like this site. both are time wasters. surely you could be spending some quality time with a relative instead of hanging out on this site. I am addicted. I love helping people. I am so full of advice. I exude advice.
  • Football has so much strategy that goes unseen. There are so many factors that go into today's game. I know the stereotype is just dumb meat heads hitting each other but it's so much more than that. Every player has playbooks that are several hundred pages . They cover every possible variable that might arise for each play. Those guys study these books non stop. Try watching one player for an entire quarter. You will be amazed at how many different functions he has. Add to that the speed ,quickness, and power of the athletes and put all of that at full speed and it is really a fantastic display of planning development and performance.
  • I can only speak for myself, but i love football (soccer), and watch it every week without fail. It wouldnt matter to me if my team wasn't even playing, i would still watch. I would say the reason i love to watch is first and foremost because im passionate about my team, but also because of the emotions and real, unscripted drama it, and most sport, provides. I look at it as most people would look at a drama on tv, but my drama is real and unscripted, and thats what makes it so appealing and addictive.
  • I have no idea, I'm a guy and I absolutely loathe sports
  • It's not all about men- my mom watches it. I'm baffled too.
  • It's legal organized violence? They have to defend their territory, fight over their ball(s), get paid to beat on each other to do it. Plus, they get lots of money, women, celebrity status (idolized like a "god"), and the best legal help to get them out of trouble. People pay big money to watch guys beat each other up.
  • They just love the half-time show...the rest is a cover-up. I love to shop...but honestly, you lost me at men in tight pants playing with their balls
  • they say football is mindless violence - have you ever seen a white sale at Macy's????? the NFL has nothing on them
  • I'm not even giving you points for this one, you hypocrite. You know you like football. And hey, somebody had to win in Ohio today. Congrats to your Browns.:))
  • Personally, I just liked watching my team, OSU Beavers, defeating #1 USC. That was awesome.
  • We probably love it for the same reasons that you do, except that a lot of us don't feel the physical attraction for the players that you might. ;) Re: the physical attraction thing: bring on the WNFL! :D
  • It's more than the tight pants and homoerotic ass slapping. When I'm watching my team play, I am directly responsible for their results. I'm on the team, and I don't have to spend 5 hours a day practicing. I'll give you an example: my lucky shirt was in the dirty laundry and I decided not to wear a disgusting shirt. What happened? THE GATORS LOST BY ONE POINT. Let's turn the clock back to the South Carolina game last year. I wore that disgusting shirt and you know what happened? We blocked an extra point AND WON THE GAME. It's camaraderie. I see some guy wearing my team colors and we have an instant connection; we don't know one another but we both have gone through the same things. We are, in effect, long lost friends. We share roller-coaster-like emotions from play to play. We drink together, we high five one another, and we occasionally partake in homoerotic ass slapping.
  • Aren't you being a bit of a hypocrite. I know you were watching your Browns win today. Hey, one of the Ohio teams had to win:)
  • Not all men do. Thats a very big stereotype. I have known many females to be just as passionate about football... But I also dont get the amusement in WATCHING the game... Its ball........
  • I haven't got a clue, but then, I have no idea why people enjoy shopping either.
  • I can understand football, I don't get what men/women see in Golf, that to me is the most boring sport there is. If it is even a sport at all.
  • It's not just men that love football. I LOVE football. I can't understand why you would rather do anything else when the game is one.
  • I am a little suprised you ask this. You are an avid Buckeye and Brown fan. Anyways, men love it because it is the only place where their behavior is legal.
  • Walmart... Really? I can't stand or understand the premise behind competitive sports... But Walmart? I would rather have my toenails pulled out and then soak my feet in alcohol.
  • we could explain why men love football when u are able to explain how someone in his right mind would spend a (COMPLETE)day shopping at Wal Mart wow that has to be the most crappiest and painfull day i could possibly imagine what happened to just taking a walk eating something nice and relax in a jazzbar? girl its not TV OR SHOPPING! there are way more nice things to do and to enjoy
  • I just don't understand why so many women just love Spending a day shopping at Wal Mart? I would rather spend a day watching football than watching a bunch of future Jerry Springer guests drool over price rollbacks on size 20 underpants and nachos..Could someone please explain to me why women love Wal Mart?
  • It is mostly a guy thing, Sillyville, but...there are female fanatics as well. It is basically ancient warfare, hon,...without guns or swords or spears. That makes it "legal" for all of us to either play or cheer.
  • I just don't understand why so many women just love shopping? I would rather spend a day in front of the tube watching football than jostling with a bunch of women in tight pants trying to catch a bargain..Could someone please explain to me why women love shopping?
  • It's an American institution like hot dogs, pizza, apple pie and chevy. When your a young man in the United States the first Sport your exposed to is Football and then basktball. For a lot of guys who don't get an opportunity to play the game in high school or in college you do get a chance to experience that sport in school. Everyone in the United States went to high school. Well almost everyone the most attended sporting event on campus was friday night football games. It wasn't just a game. It was a social event. Just like in college and even in the pros. You don't need to be a player since all of us are overexposed to some degree with this sport. It's a sport that has a violence about it. It has the uniforms. It has the cheerleaders. It has the bands. It's an American institution.
  • The real honest answer? Im not homosexual... But it involves the tights. There is a sense of security involved when you wear tights, and men respect men who look self assured. And no man looks as self assured as a football player. So you see? It all boils down to the tights.
  • I'm not a man, but I'd much rather spend the day watching football than shopping at WalMart.
  • i'm a guy and i hate sports.
  • just everything about it!
  • Well, first, watching a football game on tv with our buddies, it's more about chillin than actually watching the game. We bring out the pizza and the beer and we have friendly gambles about who will win. In addition, it's actually kind of sexy when a girl knows about football. My girlfriend is a cheerleader so I love being able to talk about stuff during the games with her and not have to explain everything. (Note to guys: there's a limit to the amount of times a week that even a cheerleader will talk about football with you. don't push your luck) Basically, though, it's like asking, why do girls like going to the spa together? Why do they do their nails? Or why do they NOT like football? =P Pretty much, it's something that you would only understand if you were of the opposite sex, with some exceptions, of course, my girlfriend included. =] In The Image: Reggie Bush #25 New Orleans, Saints
  • competition and shit talkin
  • I have absolutely no freakin idea. I hate sports. I don't mind playing some on a nice afternoon but I never understood the whole watching the game or going to the stadium, dressed in your colors, painting your face, wearing a jersey with the name of a man on the back...seems weird to me. Especially those people that cheer for the home team only because it is the home team...makes no sense to me. There's so many other things I would rather do than watch a bunch of overpaid men chase a ball around and bump into one another.
  • The American male has been effeminized by current American "culture" to the point that most are just a female with a penis. Football allows him to vent his aggression without actually placing himself in danger. This way he can pretend to be a "he-man" without actually placing himself at risk. Sort of a talk the talk without having to walk the walk.
  • "Football's a game of inches"...-Al Pacino; but seriously its so beautiful because of the intrecate strategy involved from which coaches and players have spent countless hours trying to perfect. Also, it's a zero sum game and only the strong survive. If you have ever watched a game from the sidelines you'll see what amounts to a car wreck on every play. There are so many life lessons to be learned from the game. It's great to see one man lay it on the line for another man, to give his heart and soul for the greater good of the team. Reference Ray Lewis, Brian Dawkins..
  • From a woman's stand point I can tell you that I didn't use to like it but since learning most of the rules and the way the game is played, I have enjoyed it for many years now. It is an awesome sport once you start watching it. I used to go shopping when they would Yell Charge! I now stay home and enjoy the game. I actually miss it when the season it over.
  • Football is by far and away my favorite sport. To me, football is the ultimate chess match. It is a physical and mental battle which makes it compelling to watch and play. Football is a game that invokes more emotion than any other sport. It also invokes some great memories for me. My grandfather died when I was young and one of the few memories I have of him is on Sunday afternoons eating lunch with the family and watching football with him. He was a big Packers fan, while I became a Cowboys fan. It is just something men enjoy doing, just like women enjoying doing a variety of things as well. Personally as a guy, I would rather have a root canal than shop, etc. but if a woman or someone else is into it, go for it and have fun.
  • Mans answer: We love it because its organized battle! Its the perfect combination of physical tests and brotherhood. under the most grizzley of conditions 11 men take the field in search of the all mighty quest of who's more cunning than the next. Its poetry in motion and the closest thing to war without loss of life or flashbacks. Its blood and guts every Sunday where our heroes show us how much they love the game. Womens Answer: Honestly I think it starts as kids..its what Sundays at home were like. What the football game on sundays meant to us. Gathering around the TV with dad and seeing him happy when all week he was down. Or just sharing what it was like to be a grown up as a kid..cheering together for thier teams made kids feel like they were looked upon as equals. From there it turned to learning about it more so next week we could offer more to the adults..see dad smile when Jr. knew who Joe Montana and jerry rice were. Thats when it starts..Some kids turn to love baseball just as much..Its starts with a kid trying to understand life. And the game is the tool.
  • I am a man, and you know what, I think its stupid, i don't in fact like it at all unless i am betting on it, i would rather watch paint peel, the football games on the xbox 360 are pretty fun though, Watching sports though to me isn't any fun.
