on my legs and arms and only got them when I started working with wood and being around a lot of sawdust. They are about the size of a sesame seed.

You might want to check it out on the internet a little further. I had that happen to me when I visited a friend who lived in an orchard. They weren't fleas but close to it. Could have something to do with the type of wood you are working with as well.

sound like fleas they can jump very quickly they look like they fly off. I have never heard or seen a gnat bite but fleas feed on blood. They can also be found around stacks of wood and sawdust.

Sand fleas? Kind of like a gnat.

They sound like black flies to me. they have steel teeth and jaws and draw blood when they bite! Usually they travel north when the temps start going up in the spring and back south as fall and winter arrive. They don't like hot weather. They come through Ontario, Canada twice each year!
