Have you ever been to Hoover Dam...what is to see or do out there?

    The dam itself is an interesting tour, and there are lots of recreational opportunities on Lake Mead itself if you like boating, water skiing, etc. It's not very far away from Las Vegas, which has plenty to do.

    My Parents live about 20 -25 miles from the Dam - I know little of the Dam, but if you are going west you're headed for las Vegas with Boulder City (where the workers lived during th building of the Dam. ) Small town,then being where gambling is allowed theres a few Tourists stops right off the Highway, I suggest trying 1 they're an nice break from the heat, serve good food and have every devise you can think of to take your Money! lol Then keep going west and Vegas grows seemingly out of the Desert.
    Course thats the Big draw for miles around and the famed Area 51 is just north of there.East from the dam theres very winding roads through mountains and Lake Powell is in the area.keep going east to Highway 63 (you're back in Az, at this point)and you can easily get to the Colo. river going west again on 63. Once you cross the river you're back in Nv. and Laughlin (real guy) is there. On the Az. side of the river is Bullhead - often the hottest place in the U.S. and it's big for recreational boating, jet ski's, and a large population of people.In Laughlin theres a Vegas type "strip with motel's, Hotel's, Casinos for any price range. In the winter we'd get a room for 15 dollars a night! at the Colorado Belle. But it's grown dramatically since I've been. Sorry , my information is poor about the Damn.
