If she is a single mother, and her child/children live with her, she does not live alone and needs to stay coherent and alert for the sake of her kids, prescription or not.

How old is your child? If it's a little tiny baby that can't help it's self then be very careful when taking them, or maybe see if someone can come over to help out. And if its a little toddler make sure all dangerous areas are closed off. But if their really is no need to take them then don't take them.

Sorry but it's not ok. Would you leave a single man alone drunk in a house with a child. OBVIOUSLY NOT. It doesn't matter if she has a prescription or not, she's unconscious either way. Alertness (if that's a word) and the ability to react at all are genuine and important when living with children.

No it is not ok. IF your child/ren needs help and you are out then they are essentially alone at home. Even you have a prescription for it. I am assuming that the doctor giving prescribing it does not know the situation at home, or he/she would have some reservations about prescribing it.
