  • I have a powerbook G4 too, but I must say I've never experienced anything like that. Could it be an old battery causing it to 'think' that it needs to go to sleep? Another thing that could be happening is that sensors inside the powerbook are giving faulty temperature readings in overheat temperatures. This makes the powerbook think it needs to go to sleep to prevent over heating. You definitely aren't the only one with this problem, take a look at some of these links: http://www.macfixitforums.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum19&Number=782506&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=31&fpart=1 http://www.notebookforums.com/post2491891.html feel free to give more details. :) Edit: Now that I think of it, my powerbook used to get incredibly hot too(which caused it to go to sleep automatically or shut down as well) I got myself one of those podium stands which helps air circulation a bit. I also have a small desk fan always blowing somewhere in the direction of my laptop and it works very well to keep the computer cool. Its worth a try if you know for sure its the actual temperature that is causing the problem.
