Nebraska to let teens be abandoned by parents. Do you think this is a good thing? Or do you feel this is just an easy way out for those who don't want to parent?

I know young people can be "emancipated" from their parents if they so choose, which I think is a good thing if the parenting has been lousy and detrimental to the mental/physical health of the child. Now, parents being legally allowed to abandon their kids? Well, it's preferable to beating the kids, verbally abusing them or ignoring them altogether. But it definitely sucks, doesn't it? :(

This is nothing really new. According to Mosaic Law from the Old Testament Bible if parents could not control their children they were brought to the gates of the city where those in authority (similar to city councle)would take the child. The child was then stoned to death. The laws today will no longer allow stoneing, but when turned over to the proper authorites place the children in some type of foster care. Personally if these unruly teens are real trouble makers maybe stoneing should be brought back. I would bet there would be a lot less young and teen crime and disrespect of others.
