  • You are correct, it's your house and you can do what you like. What I do, so that I don't make anyone uncomfortable, I keep my religious items in my bedroom.
  • You are absolutely right. It is your house and you have the right to put whatever you desire on display. You simply do not have to worry about what other people like or dislike, If they have issues then they should not come over. Would your friend put away pictures of their kids if someone came over that could not stand or like children? I think not. Perhaps there painted walls is a color I do not like, do you think they would change it? We both know they would not.
  • your home is your sanctuary. and you are free to decorate it as you see fit. but your friend may have a point. as a real estate agent, i have been in some homes that have large collections of religious icons. some of the homes i visited seemed more like shrines than homes. there can be too much of a good thing ~ ill never forget the house that had a note with jesus jesus jesus scribbled on the front door and crosses and mary statues everywhere ~ my clients were disturbed by the whole experience and left the house quickly. and they were devout christians! also, i have found that homes that were too religiously decorated sat on the market, people obviously didnt feel at home there. in todays world, many people have entertaining areas on the main level of their home (e.g. kitchen, living room, dining room, powder room). for your guests' comfortability, you may want to keep the number of religious items there at a minimum and display the others throughout the rest of your home.
  • This "friend" is not only rude, he is also arrogant. What you choose to have in your house is a matter for you alone. If he doesn't like it he doesn't have to visit.
  • 1) Nobody want to be wrong. If you were thinking you are wrong, you would just have to think the opposite to be right, so this never happens. ;-) In other words, in your own eyes, you are never wrong, you only sometimes agree that you *have been* wrong. 2) I think it would be better to take this as an opinion rather than a critic. • The day that someone doesn't feel that they can decorate their home as they wish, well, doesn't it say somewhere in the Bible that this is one of the signs of Armageddon? You OWN your home. Even if you owe a mortgage you can decorate as you wish. If you are renting, you still can decorate as you wish as long as you don't destroy the property. Know your rights or we will all surely lose them some day.
