I've been writing for years. Being your own anything other than writer is hard. We know what we tried to write and often see it whether it is there or not. The best thing you can do is read. The more your read what you like the more you will write like that. But I found reading what I don't like is helpful too. It taught me how not to write. I can recommend a forum where there are people willing to help you. absolutewrite.com/forums But beware. When asking for crits (critiques) you are putting yourself in front of the gun. Stephen King wrote "On Writing". It helped me a lot. Get a copy. Read read read!
