Lies & it's euphuisms. For example; veracity variances and situational approximation. Some you have seen, heard, or would like to coin. Does anyone use the word lie. Thanks

    Sure, people use "lie" all the time. The trouble is that it's not always the right word. Sometimes someone is whitewashing it, and sometimes the situation is really ambiguous.

    Example: the gestapo knocks on your door and asks if you're hiding Jews in the attic. You deny it, even though it's true.

    Have you lied? Well, in one sense, yes -- you intentionally misled someone. But one could also argue that "lie" has a morally-negative aspect which is a necessary part of its definition. So this is either a "good lie", or it's not a lie.

    The world is full of things that aren't black and white, and the more experience you have with life, and the more you observe, the less likely you are to be absolutist about any particular word.
