It gives you something to look at when you're pumping her from behind.
its the typical tattoo on a girls lower back, its called a tramp stamp cause its usually the typical party girl that ends up taking there clothes off at the end of the party. im not saying all girls with that tattoo do, im saying its a stereotype
Its a tattoo that is on the loser part of your body. like on the back..above the butt.
this is called a tramp stamp because, some people think that.. girls or guys i guess get this for attention or want people to look.
Well we don't, we just call them Ass Antlers...lol
A true tramp stamp is not only on the back. It can be on the breast, lower back left shoulder blade or on the arms and wrist. A little known fact is that back in the pioneer days, and even farther back in the colonial days, various people were tattooed with a tribal type of tattoo, to show the world that they were UN-faithful and /or could not be trusted. This is where the term tramp stamp came from. Most of the woman who received them were called tramps.

Hahaha! I've already declined to comment on this one. Pretty cool though. I think it's kind of hot.
Good question. I love Vince Vaugh's line in Wedding Crashers, "Might as well be a target." Haha. I know the answer but I'm not going to post it...hehe...because I'd blush too much. I'm sure somebody else will enlighten us all ;)
Tatoo on the lower part of a woman's back... its basically a target when hitting it from the back.
When I was growing up it was refered to as a hickey as in when someone sucks on your body and you end up with a blood clot somewhere. This probably has something to with a person who engages freely in promiscuous sex and gets marked in the process.
A derogatory term for a lower back tattoo on a female.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lower_back_tattoo
It is called this for the same reason that people make any derogatory comment about a group of people: ignorance, prejudice, arrogance, and judgment.
I think the craze for tatoos has gone overboard and will start to dwindle.
As for the ones on the lower back, they beat the ones on the bum.
A tramp stamp is a tattoo that is located directly on the small of the back. It is called that because it doesn't show unless the pants or skirt is low enough to show . . . quite like a tramp would wear her clothes.
I thought someone else would answer this properly! LOL jeez louise, Im too much of a lady to describe such things... but yes, thats the "bulls-eye" as they call it. lol tramp stamp, i never heard that particular one!! So you have educated ME ;)
I think lower back tattoos are kind of hot, and if I ever got a tattoo, that's where I would get it.
tramp stamp is a tatoo on the lower part of a girls back. when the "tramp" wears tight fitting clothing, as many "tramps" are prone to do her shirt will come up as she bends over, just enough to allow a full view of the tattoo and usually the top of her buttcrack. this mark is like a target for men in bars who are looking for a good time, because no one but a promiscuous woman would decorate her body in a location that can only (fully) be viewed while having sex with her in the "doggy style" position.
also watch the movie wedding crashers for a more n depth dialogue about lower back tattoos
I nearly got one of those myself when I was younger, some tribal rubbish.
I am so glad I didn't now... just looks cheap, tacky, un-original and things like that haven't got any particular or sentimental meaning.
I think it is because many people think they make the wearer look cheap and, well, trampy.
I guess they are called that because every tramp has one and they are put there for the sole purpose that someone might see it.
I call them ass horns, but that is just because that's what it looks like.
Because a lot of people got tattoos right along the waistline of their pants, basically drawing attention to the fact that their shirt or pants are cut to be revealing. Generally a tattoo with no real meaning, like a bunch of swirls or something. described as "something to look at when you're nailing her from behind."
I think you can get a lower-back tattoo and *not* have it be a tramp stamp, though I'm biased because I have my own lower-back tattoo. :) I figure I didn't get it on impulse, it does mean something to me, and it's high up enough that most of my shirts don't show it. A lot of people don't know I have it unless I tell them.
One thing that nobody seemed to pick up on is that there is more to the term than just the suggestion that a person who has a "tramp stamp" is a tramp.
There is also that little word "stamp" in there. This is because there are certain kinds of people out there who don't really care WHAT they put on their bodies; that is, content is not important to them. They just want something superficially cool and trendy that will draw quick attention, and so they get a rather generic item "stamped" on to their body, cookie-cutter style. It is typically placed in an area where the gaze of an admirer will be drawn to an erogenous body area, most commonly the lower back, especially as short shirts and low-rise pants became more popular.
The tramp stamp, as opposed to some other tattoos, is NOT art. It's kitsche. It is precisely that need for quick attention from random hook-up hopefuls that usually lands THIS TYPE of tattoo on THAT TYPE of person. It's all about superficiality.
Guys do this, too, by the way, like with those super-lame, trendy bicep tattoos of tribal patterns, or barbed wire...you know who you are. These are the types of tattoos that are meant to be seen from across a fitness club.
A tramp stamp is a tattoo that is placed on a womans lower back and it is called this because people assume that she likes to have sex.

Just a short comment.
Ladies if you decide or have already got one, you may want to watch the following video:

It's a rather disrespectful, pejorative label for the choice of an adventurous-type youthful woman with flexible relative moral and aesthetic sensibilities to express her iconoclasm and individuality (and/or to piss off her conservative parents) with bodyart located on the small of her back. Some males of perhaps rather dubious archetypal feminine ideals and fashion tastes consider this very provocative and sexually desirable. While many others do not, hence the source of the personal slight, which you gotta admit is hilarious!

it is called this as tramp usually homeless people used them.
well i just read what everyone else was on about. and it isnt this lol
a tramp stamp is a woman's lower back tattoo. It's called this because women with lower back tattoos are usually loose, and the women usually get lower back tattoos to let guys know they like anal.
a "tramp stamp" is a term that some men use to degrade women who have a lower back tattoo, because they view the woman as unconventional (or threatening).
From a distance, it looks like a woman has a license plate above her ass.
bulls eye, tramp stamp what ever you call its still the same thing. Lower back tattoos. i have one but its cause i like tattoos(i have them all over my back.) not cause i want my ass looked at.
“Tramp Stamp” is a derogatory term referring to a tattoo which a women places on her lower back. It is especially popular among women born in the late 70’s, 80‘s, and even early 90’s. Fair or unfair, these tattoos have a socially constructed connotation associated with them. These women are labeled as tramps, whores, or other derogatory sexually promiscuous terms. Although these are often bias generalized claims, there have been sociological studies done by the American Psychological Association, Federal Bureau of Prisons, and other demographic researchers showing strong correlative evidence associating tattoos with high risk behavior, illegal substance abuse and sexual promiscuity. These risk factors are greatest in the age range which these types of tattoos are gaining main stream popularity. Some have also jokingly stated that by 2050, the “tramp stamp” will be renamed the “gramp stamp”.
Its similar to a bar code, or a "made in" or " inspected by..." sticker, but it signifies something different, apparently...
Lower back tattoos are NOT tramp stamps.
Lower back tattoos are called 'peek a boo'
A tramp stamp is right above the crack of your ass.
There is a good 3 inches of difference between a tramp stamp and peekaboo.
Trampstamp= above crack of ass (tailbone)
Peekaboo=Lower back.
It's called this because stupid people seem to think you can judge a person's character based on the placement of their tattoo. I would argue that this is likely the smartest place for a woman to get a tattoo since it doesn't tend to stretch during pregnancy like your stomach does and doesn't sag or become flabby with age as do your boobs, arms and legs. But hey, keep judging if you want...you'll likely miss out on getting to know some pretty cool people.
Desiree has them backwards. Ask a tattoo artist!
A Peek-A-Boo tattoo is one normally hidden, either under skin folds (like underarms, underside of the breast, or a part of the body normally covered with clothing, hence the name!)
A Tramp stamp is in fact the lower-back tattoo and as Brain noted, this identified untrustworthy/unfaithful types going back centuries.
And so far, every woman I have met with one has lived up to the stereotype..
While the lower back is not the widest area of the human back, it has abundant space for a large design, and horizontal tattoo designs can be worked easily. In contrast to the abdomen, which is otherwise a similar location, the lower back does not stretch significantly during pregnancy or other weight gains, thus providing a more stable site for a design.
a tramp is a fucking bum
no, but i dont like tats on women anywhere!
Cuz its on the lower back...and when your doing it...its right there in site
Or the only other time somebody sees it is when their shirt comes up...or is too short.
Its just a lousy place to put it....unless you "want" people to see it...(when they arent sposed to see it)...if that makes sense.
In the United States, a lower back tattoo is pejoratively referred to as “tramp stamps” or “California license plates” in Australia, the Netherlands and Germany as “arse antlers” and in the UK as “slag tags”
