I've had some rounds with depression since my grandmother died in 2000. I saw a psychiatrist, and she told me people like me want to kill themselves, and I never have. She also said I've been raped as a child. Do all psychiatrists think like that?

No, not all of them, but this isn't unfamiliar. My first psychologist I went to for my depression said I was depressed because I was a woman. Basically a uterus makes you depressed. I stopped seeing him and went to a new, FEMALE psychologist within a week. You really have to pick and choose who is right for you. Best wishes.

Sounds like a cook to me. I would stay away from the psychiatrists. My mom died and so did my grandfather. Both in car wrecks. Loss of loved ones is something that happens to everybody eventually. Thats no reason to pay some asshole money to tell you things you can probably figure out on your own. Be sad. Deal with it your own way. Dont kill yourself because that'll just make more loved ones more sad. Hope I didnt come off to cold or blunt.

just because they have the title of psych. doesn't mean they know what they are talking about. I had a psy. tell me that depressed people were not really depressed..they just wanted attention. Find you a new one. you may have to try several to find 1 u r comfortable with. Not everyone who is depressed is suicidal. How many times have you seen her? how does she get the idea you were raped as a child. I was with one for years and I was never told that..sounds like yours is an idiot
