  • It's too late. Times up. Move on.
  • it's not too late, if you still have milk you should pump-it and give it to your child
  • Unless you are currently lactating the challenge will far outway any benefit that you could provide your daughter by now. I have read that women could re-activate lactation with constant stimulation, but it's a rare accomplishment at best..
  • The first three mths of the infancy are crucial as infant's own body do not produce any antibodies and cannot absorb many minerals. The mother's milk provides all to the infant. However, you did not feed the child in early stages, I do not think so you are still lactating (producing milk). The mammary glands stop producing milk if mother does not feed the infant. Even if you want, it is too late. In your next pregnancy, start feeding the baby and you can lactate even upto 18 mths or so after the delivery.
  • You can try pumping but if you have no resultes in a week you need to talk to your doctor they have pills to help produce milk. The reason they want you to breast feed when child is a newborn because of the antibodies. I is still good to breast feed but it helps them more when they are babies your doctor can explain it much better. Its hard to explain with out using medical words.
  • I breastfed my second child well into his first year of life. I did start with this almost minutes after he was born. If you have been breasfeeding your baby since the beginning or if you have been able to consistantly produce milk (pump or hand express) than your body is still producing milk for your child. If this is the case and you start breastfeeding your baby again your body will increase the demand for milk according to how much the child requires (or is nursing). Aren't our bodies amazing! I couldn't really tell by your post if your baby is one month or one year old. Maybe you could let us know and we could help answer a little better. If baby is one month old and you are still producing milk, I think it is wonderful and you should continue. It is true that the first three weeks of lactation contain amazing antibodies for babe but don't worry about this because breast milk is amazing stuff hands down. If your baby is one year old and you are still producing milk, than I again say, "great" and I'm a big advocate on continuing until you are comfortable. Please let us know if baby is one month or one year. Either way, if you can breastfeed, I say go for it.
  • I have several friends who adopted their babies/children and breast fed. Its is a wonder of our bodies and is completely healthy at all times. I also have known many women that continued to pump breast milk and add it to whaterver their babies/children were drinking up to the age of four years old. There are so many things in breast milk that prevent illness that there is no way it is to late or could be harmful at one year old. Your body will lactate if you pump or nurse it just might take a little time. Also at health food stores you can buy "mother's milk" tea. This will naturally help you to lactate.
  • No, it is NOT too late!! Research, MANY women induce lactation and breast milk is ALWAYS better for your baby than formula or cows milk. http://www.lalecheleague.org/NB/NBrelactation.html http://www.lact-aid.com/rpt025.htm http://www.kellymom.com/bf/supply/relactation.html http://library.adoption.com/adoptive-breastfeeding/induced-lactation/article/2477/1.html
