Because he liked to laugh:) That's why I named my son Isaac..it means the one who laughs:):) He laughs all the time..but sometimes he does cry or whine:)

He wasn't, he was known as the weeping philosopher. Heraclitus' life as a highland herbivore was interrupted by a general edema and impairment of vision. The physicians he consulted were unable to prescribe a cure. He treated himself with a liniment of cow manure and baking in the sun, believing that this method would remove the fluid. After 24 hours of treatment he died and was interred in the marketplace. holy cow,no wonder he weeped. Democritus was the laugher.

Many fragments of Heraclitus's work, commonly known as On the Nature of the Universe, although their interpretation is made difficult by their lack of context and by the abbreviated, oracular style in which they were written. Because of the difficulty of his thought, Heraclitus was known throughout the ancient world as "the Obscure" (skoteinos). Democritus, known in antiquity as the ‘laughing philosopher’ because of his emphasis on the value of ‘cheerfulness’. I hope we are referring to the same philosopher. Best regards.
