My experience with computers, espcially laptops, is that those that gamers want with the sounds and fast and responsive numbers and other keypads, are not the same kind that I would need or want if I were a writer and basically using only a very sophisticated word processor along with the Internet and maybe some other writers software. I would read reviews in computer magazines, or search online for "laptops for writers" and "good laptop computers for gamers" using one of the major search engines. I would bet you come up with some good and objective suggestins from some of the many review sites that are available online.

Gamers and writers have vastly different requirements for CPU clock speed, RAM and graphics capabilities. I think you would naturally have to focus on your gaming needs as these are far more important to cover when looking for a machine than your writing. I think one of the all-time best notebook gaming setups is made by Alienware. These are specifically designed for gaming. But beware, these are REALLY expensive machines! Upwards of $5000 for some of the latest models. There are a number of good gaming and PC review magazines available, like PC World and Maximum PC. The latter would be an excellent resource for comparison shopping.

I like alienware for gaming; but they are a bit on the over priced side of the technology. For writing most laptops will do. Remember to keep backup copies of your work as the average lifespan of a notebook computer is about 2.5 years.(for those who use them everyday) If that doesn't suit your tastes you can always have someone build you a computer to meet your needs. Cost wise it may save you a few dollars, euros. http://www.alienware.com/
