Yes, but not for any supernatural reason. It is a simple matter of what many people believe. People believe that a full moon has a certain power, so they act accordingly. They will also perceive some otherwise natural occurrence as incredible, even magical.

If the moon is capable of lifting the oceans, I would say that it probably has the power to make other things happen.
