  • Just to put things into perspective I worked in a european country and earned about $750 a month and I just got by (mind you I had living costs but you will need to buy food and are you staying at hostels?)I think that you should take AT LEAST $AU2000 seeing as that you staying with family, but it depends which countries you are planning to go to as some are cheaper than others to buy food etc. For example Slovakia is cheaper than say Hungary. Although clothes are a lot more expensive than Australia. If you aren't going to get any support from your family there then I would definitely take more than $2000 and probably you might not end up spending it all but you need to be prepared in case of emergencies etc. (or having that extra money to buy that something what you cant live without ;)). But you say spending money so clothes souvenirs etc. then $1000 for that it also pays to think about for whom you will buy things for and that way you can work out a budget of how much you roughly want to spend on each person. Hope that helps!
