  • Must be Barry O. he's always looking for additional support! I agree in the sense that the members of the House and Senate won't pay attention unless you are a prime contributor to their next campaign!
  • McCain. Yes. We have the Best Congress that Money Can Buy! So it has been, so it will ever be. Reforms don't last. You can look it up.
  • That's a John McCain quote (http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/issues/cb15a056-ac87-485d-a64d-82989bdc948c.htm) I really have no opinion on if I agree or disagree. All I ask from the government is for border and national security and a sound infastructure. Nothing more. However, I don't speak for all Americans, or even a few, just myself. You know, that sounds a lot like that "Ask not...." thing Kennedy said.
  • McCain also thinks "middle class" is making $2,000,000.00 dollars a year?!?!?!
  • McCain. I wholly disagree. To be fair, this appears to be an observation and not necessarily his opinion. But this arguement was settled long ago between Jefferson and Hamilton. Hamilton wanted suffrage based upon property ownership. Jefferson wanted suffrage among all free citizens. Jefferson won the arguement and Hamilton was shot dead by Aaron Burr.
  • The way I understand this quote, now that I have read it in context, is that Americans believe that this is how the current political system is corrupted, not that this is how the system is supposed to work. And yes, I believe that this is how it works, unfortunately. However, this is not a uniquely American problem.
  • I have no idea, but Americans do seem to believe that. I know I believe it. I don't like it, but I do believe that this is the fact. Otherwise, people like OJ and that Kennedy cousin wouldn't get away with the crimes that they do. People with money have more political influence. They gain it by either outright bribes to corrupt politicians or by large contributions to campaigns. It's all about payback. I'm surprised any politician said this openly, however. Hopefully more will shine the light on this type of corruption. I hope more politicians are honest about it.
  • Our "leaders" are bought and sold like cabbages in the market - yeah, there's some sage wisdom there for sure.
