  • Yes. The Catholic Church teaches: Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements. Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church. All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him. • Yes, Scriptural salvation is as Ephesians 2:8 says "For by grace are ye saved through FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Emphasis mine). That means that we CANNOT be saved by water baptism, by going to church, or whatever. It is by GRACE through FAITH. The Bible tells us that "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23. This means that we all are sinners and do not and cannot measure up to the standard that God requires. Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." That means that we have death as our payment for our sin debt. Just as you expect payment for working a job, we can expect death as payment for sin. But key is the second part, the gift of God, that gift of eternal life can only come with Christ. Romans 10:9&10 say: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." This means if you will believe Christ was born of a virgin, that he lived a sinless life, and that he died and rose again for your sins and pray asking Christ to forgive you of your sins and come into your heart to be Lord of your life, you SHALL be saved. Romans 10:13 offers us the guarantee: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Note Whosoever (that is you my friend) SHALL, not might be, not could be, not if you live a good life will be, it is SHALL BE saved. That is a promise of God. I hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to ask.
  • Of course! I am Muslim and I believe I will be saved if I lead a pious life and follow Allah's rules. If I don't follow His rules I WILL go to hell. But because I am Muslim I will get to heaven eventually.
  • Saved from what?
  • Catholics believe that it is not impossible for a person to be saved outside the Church, but that a faithful Catholic is so able, through the sacraments, and through Catholic teaching, to be closer to God (and therefore happier) than in any other religion. A Catholic can recognize that all religions have elements of the true religion, but the Church has the institution of the sacraments, through which God's grace is received, and the tradition and teaching of the church leads man into a fuller relation to God.
