We don't have spore, but there are hundreds of posts on Amazon's web site about the digital rights management built into the game, which appears to be causing problems for numerous users. You may want to complain to Electronic Art.

I've run across a number of issues. At first the game would run, but certain elements of the landscape would not load resulting in being able to "see through" the land into the sky below - this happened with spice nodes, the tribal village, and the city. Later in space, the game would randomly crash every now and then. No error, it would just abruptly close. After this started, I opened the game once again to find I had no cursor, which wasn't so much resolved as all I did was to reboot the machine. Shortly after that, the game would also crash whenever I was in an editor (creature, vehicle, etc) and clicked the "save" button - but I could use the "save and exit" button perfectly fine? Not too long after that, the game randomly crashed in space (no surprise there), but now it won't start back up at all. Sometimes Windows will provide an error message, saying that the program had to be closed by it, but then that won't always come up either. Nothing that I have attempted either from my own troubleshooting or taking suggestions from the countless others who also can't run the game without issues has thus far worked. What I would normally do at this point is uninstall and reinstall but then I face the problem of only being able to install the game three times before EA expects me to contact them and beg to be allowed to install a game I already paid for but couldn't even successfully play.
