1. I don't pray. I used to. 2. When I did, I heard nothing other than typical noise like breathing and street traffic. 3. No, I don't accept my own thoughts as god's way of answering me. 4. I accepted the lack of response as evidence (a part of much evidence) that there is no god. 5. That's why I no longer pray.

God don't answer me in my head, the answers usually come from somewhere else in an instant or as experience.

I personally believe that a deity or god is not separate from anyone or anything,and we are all part of that entity.Thus if we pray we are prying to ourselves.It is our belief that we are separte that causes the problems.

I cant say I get thought, but I get feelings...I get the feeling everything is going to be ok, or I get a feeling I'd better work on it a little more. Or, I get a very excited feeling that everything is really going to b ok. I trust those feelings.

Sometimes the thoughts in your head are the Holy Spirit, other times they are Satan trying to confuse you. If you live your life according to His Word, the Holy Spirit will lead you, and in your heart you will know when it is the Holy Spirit speaking to you.
