I've never received a pay raise that I did not bust my butt to earn. This past year I received a 7.5% raise which, considering most of my coworkers got 3% or less, is substantial. I got that raise for being reliable, competent, and available; things that most of my coworkers frankly are not. I never cease to be amazed by the people that feel they've a right to a big fat pay raise but when asked to pull different shifts, come in for a little OT, or do something outside their job description throw a fit like the spoiled babies that they really are. So, I never worry about not feeling I earned my pay.

No I have always earned it plus more than I never got!!
