Make sure you don't have a floppy disk in the computer when it starts. I've done that before and couldn't figure out why my computer wasn't working and then realized there was a disk in there!

I would recommend rebooting in Safe Mode, if you're using Windows XP (any version). To do this, start your computer and hold down the F8 key. You will be greeted with the Windows Advanced Options menu. Select "Safe Mode". For more information, you can check out this link. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222 If you are using another platform, like an older Windows release or Linux or Mac OS, then I wouldn't be able to suggest anything. Sorry!

A little more info may be needed. Does your computer post - show any bios & memory info when restarted? If so, run windows in safe mode as stated above, most likely a windows driver error. If nothing appears after rebooting, the problem may lie within the motherboard and/or the power supply. I've had a power supply fail on me, but had enough power to turn the system on but wouldnt post or display anything on the screen. Hopefully its just windows in your case, quicker to fix the problem then figuring out which hardware is faulty and installing replacements.

I have the same trouble. My video is GeForce FX5600. The computer starts but the monitor is in standbye. It normally performs a POST sequence and then starts the OS. But the screen leaves blank! Though if I would restart the comp on and on it eventually turns on. I've replaced the capacitors on the videoboard but the problem remains. I give oneself up to despair... Please help me!
