I have heard rumors it is ok to breed a father and a daughter. i dont want to do anything to hurt my baby. my friend has the father and i have the daughter and she really wants to do this. i am scarred the babies will be messed up.can anyone help.

It is NOT OK! Don't do this. The pups could be deformed mentally and physically deformed. There's too much of this happening, and it's not good at all.

No way. Inbreeding like this can seriously mess up the offspring. Permanent blindness is just one of the many results of it.

It is never okay!! Your friend is obviously not thinking very clearly. I doubt it would harm Your dog, but what could happen to the puppies is deplorable. Keep telling your friend NO!!!

No, its not a good idea, some breeders do this but it is totally wrong, there are plenty of GS's around to breed, you will be making a massive mistake, beautiful dog you have!

That is called linebreeding and should only be done if you are very experienced with genetics and know which traits you are trying to accentuate and promote. And your dogs would need to be excellent specimens of the breed with the least amount of defects possible as if you get it wrong, those defects could be even worse from a mating of two related dogs. It's safer to never breed family members together unless you really know what you're doing. And never breed any dog unless you have gotten vet checks and xrays for hops, elbows, and hart exams. There are so many defects you can't know about without a vet's help. And all dogs for breeding should be the best of their breed to make even better bred animals.
