  • Join the kind of sites where people who belong often get published, and where your work is put up for critique. Listen to the ones that tell you how you could be better - they are way more valuable than the type who tell you you are perfect just so you will do the same for them. If you are in the UK buy the Writers and Artists year book and when you think you are good enough, send submissions to the poetry publishers listed in that book.
  • 1) Write almost every day, even if just for a little while. 2) Join a local "critique group." That way, not only will you be able to get selling/ publication/ marketing ideas from other writers, but you will also find out any flaws in your work from more experienced writers and just get to be around people who make writing a part of their lives! 3) Buy a 2008 copy...wait they come out in September so just wait for 2009...of Writer's Market. http://www.amazon.com/2008-Writers-Market-Robert-Brewer/dp/1582974969/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1220889723&sr=1-2 4) Find in the market what publications are looking for poets, and what poetry contests are out there this year, then mail, mail, mail your babies into the void. Lol
  • I have joined many sites where I get much feedback.I just don't really know how I can get a headstart instead of submitting all my poetry and new pieces and not really getting anywhere with all my views and comments.
