  • Sometimes it can be helpful in situations of protecting your personal safety. I'd say that I think people should trust their intuition, but not rely on it. There are some situations in which using just your intuition or gut feeling can lead to a flippant decision. It is better to rely on your powers of reasoning and logic.
  • I think intuition is very helpful for most people, just as I think when you are not sure about something, often your first choice or answer is correct. I also do not run my life strictly on intuition, since it has been wrong before. But I do use it as a "guide." Common sense and other things need to be used for people to not make some potentially dangerous or bad decisions. But intuition can flavor one's decision after you use reasoning, your intellect and common sense first.
  • Yes, but first they have to be able to recognize intuition distinctly from things like self-deception, ego, cravings, fears, etc. A mind that is "free and clear" of self-centered thinking can indeed intuit all sorts of things and know what to do in very complex or dynamic situations. Intuition is really the mind's ability to integrate vast amounts of "knowledge bits" at a preconscious level. It is truly an amazing capacity -- but it's easy to mistake other, more ego-centered things for intuition. It's critical to be aware of what those things are if you're going to go talking about "I'm an intuitive person". Most such statements are pure ego ramblings by people practicing little self-discipline.

  • I play poker and they say to trust your gut and when I don't I always regret it!!!
  • I think that while it might indeed be a good thing to trust one's intuition, as long as one confuses intuition and feelings, there will always be error.
  • No, as they can be wrong. They are only as good as the information and the feelings that motivate them.
