In a house. A couple even!
-
Both. We moved into our first house when I was six. I loved that house. It was a big old rowhouse built in 1900. Almost nothing had been changed since it was built. It still had capped off gaslights in every room. It still had the original varnish on the original trim. It still had knob and tube wiring and an 8-fuse box. It was like living in a very beautiful museum.

My father was a fixer-upper, and he would buy a house just before school started each year, fix it up and sell it just before summer vacation. We would then spend each summer in a motel, with a pool, and have great fun. This continued from the time I was in first grade, through middle school. When he retired from that he bought a house and we stayed there for the whole time I was in High School.

We always lived in houses except for a few years when my dad owned a music store. During that time we lived in kind of a flat above the store. That was cool! But I never lived in an apartment until I moved out on my own.

Interesting question...I lived in houses with my parents until 1964 and have lived again in houses since 1970. But I probably "grew up" in the 3 apartments I lived in from that period between 1964 and 1970.

I grew up in 3 different houses, 1950-1969.

My famiy of eight started out in a little four room house on my grandfather's 37 acre farm. When I was two we moved across the yard to their big farmhouse when they moved into town. I got married in the front yard and bought the only other house on the property (my uncle had built) and still live here today. The four room house or "the little house" as we affectionately called it, has fallen down but I used bricks from the chimney for the corner wall and hearth in my living room that we added on. The "big house" as it was called, is still standing but has been vacant for several years now. My husband and I are the only ones left here on the hilltop. I plan to be here until I die..... "There's no place like home!"

A flat (apartment) until I was 11

My dad was in the military, so we traveled and moved a LOT. We always lived in a house, sometimes military housing! We have 5 kids in our family, apartment would be too small!

A Farm House.
-
In a farm house here on this farm.
-
House and I'm very glad after having to live in noisy apartments as an adult.
-
Oh man ... we moved around so much that at any one time I lived in several houses, several apartments, a couple of mobile homes (yes, the old Brokedog was "trailer trash"), and even a "parsonage" (which I wouldn't consider a house ... it had 3 rooms, LoL). Probably a total of 15 different locations. It made me promise MY children that they would stay in the same house or location, if I had to work 3 jobs to do it. Luckily, I have kept that promise!

In a house. I didn't live in apartments until I got married and got into the Army. I like Apartment living the best. Don't have to do the lawn anymore, the swimming pool gets cleaned everyday (every apartment complex I lived in had cleaning service everyday), and it was cheaper than a house. No mortgage worries...

Motel. My folks owned one and I lived in what would have been unit #1.
