they are known to be scammers.. be interested in you to get your personal info and then take you for every dime you have. not just men but women too. It's all over the net and the TV too..called nigerian scammers. Be careful. They will tell you they love you and they want to marry you and want to start a business but they need you to ship things for them and you end up losing millions of dollars and in the middle of a fraud scheme using someone else's ID /CC #'s or they will get your personal info and max out your CC and ruin your credit/clean out your life savings.. stay away.

Yes, to echo what another poster has said, Nigeria is the home of the scam artist, so if this is an internet thing you are talking about, please be careful, and don't send any money or give any personal details. If it is someone you know in real life, then you should get to know them well before making any commitment, like any person. It is impossible to generalise about what Nigerians are like. There are three main tribes in Nigeria, and the people are all slightly different - rather like Britain, where we have the English, the Scots and the Welsh. If you are going to date a Nigerian, then that is the best way of learning about him.
