Why do people hate the police so much yet when they need help they are the first people they turn to?

with out the police who else is supposed to shoot unarmed citizens out at there bachelor party, or unarmed immigrants. What about sticking batons, or plungers up peoples ass? what about pulling people out of cars on the freeway and giving them some stick time? "don't tazer me bro" There is nothing good about the police, these are just a few of the reasons why people hate them, or talk shit about them... I for one have no use for them, people can "police" themself, and there own communities. there is no functional purpose of the police.

Firstly, I would disagree with your blanket statement that people hate the police, and add the word "some."

I would say these police haters are using double standards or being hypocritical. Some people want to be able to do things that are illegal and not have the police come after them or call them on it. Yet these same people feel that the police should protect them against people and things that are potentially harmful.

Sounds kind of one sided doesn't it? I think most people who are not among those who "hate the police" would agree it is a one sided way of looking at the poice or other authority figures who get paid for, among other things, helping the pubic in general and helping keep them safe.

I don't hate the Police Man, I hate the Police State.
I hate the system they work for, and the fact that they very rarely do what a police man is supposed to be doing which is serving and protecting.
We are loosing our rights and freedoms, and most policeman today are either too blind, ignorant, apathetic, brainwashed, or all of the above to do anything about it. We are ALL Guilty until proven Innocent in their eyes, instead of the other way around.

I don't hate the police. Sometimes I hate their arrogance and arrogant attitudes..but honestly I couldn't begin to do the job that they do all the time. I admire them for that.

I could sleep peacefully at night only because the police was their to protect me when I was sleeping at night. We cannot thank them enough for letting the kids and women walk safely in our cities.

THEY HAND OUT FELONIES LIKE CANDY. They are heartless and think their lives are worth more than us, yet they never hesitate to remind us that they are here to 'help' us. You make a mistake and they are ready to bash your head in and give you a record. You go to traffic court and they make a mockery of justice by always having the judge rule in their favour. They are racists and are responsible for the unfair ratio of minorities in jail. They love patroling the disadvantaged neighbourhoods picking on the poor and then asking for autographs when some rich celebrity is caught speeding.

Can you see what happens when u swing by to help someone with car problems and discover they are an Ex-fireman that has a meth problem. then they take your gun after a long fight and you plead with them hey its christmas i have children im a pastor at my church . and he says oh well and shoots you in the head.. do some research to the story if need be.

Personally, I DO hate the police. But I live in Independence, Missouri and the police here are, how should I say it, quite the Barney Fife Maverick Cowboys. I have had several dealings with these idiots. No, not like you'd think. Lets see: 1) My daughter was raped by a guy in this neighborhood that she knew and the police wouldn't arrest him because they said it is the rapist's word against my daughter's word. Despite the fact that they had a signed confession from the perp and the DNA evidence to back it up. 2)These cowboys shot my son's dog as he was running away. They got a call from somebody saying that there were two wolves running loose killing cats in the neighborhood. The policeman shows up, steps out of the car and fires at my son's dog as he was running past him. The officer claims the dog attacked him. Neighbors on the scene say otherwise. Fortunately, this idiot is a lousy shot. He hit the dog in the ear, spraying blood across the side of his head and his muzzle. If he had shot as the dog was supposedly attacking him, then the blood spray would've been along the dogs side and not his muzzle. Then this prick has the balls to lie to the judge in court. I'll never trust these lying bastards with anything, ever again.

Can't generalize the "hate" towards police. Some policemen yes, as they tend to look at all citizens as criminals... they treat you with disrespect. But not all of them. There are instances when approaching a cop for help may sound like asking for trouble, but there are a FEW cops who would mete out help just in order to perform their duties. Good cop, bad cop, they exist and hence we can't generalize the hate aspect

It’s a love n hate ordeal when it comes to the police.. Yeah, who else you going to turn to if somebody is breaking into your place, you don’t have possession of a gun to take cae of yourself, who else other than the police can you turn to. BUT. the vast amount of police officers abuses there powers for their own selfish pleasures which sickens ppl.. They can get away with murder, they can get away with assault, almost anything if they play there cards right and that affects us all. + when it comes to protecting your identity, lol doesn’t always work out the way they say it would.

I turned to the police once in my life when my car was broken into. The police officer made a mockery of me and my case, openly abusing and laughing at me and refusing to take down any information. I try not to let it taint my view of cops in general, but it seems from what I hear this cop was not in the minority on the police force.

I see a lot of posts that do not make since. a lot of drug dealing people of mine do not hate police. if you hate the police because of one cruel cop then you got a lot of learning to do. even if the whole local department in your little town is corrupt it is still not a reason to hate police. I myself have had everything i own including my girlfriend taken from me by the police. but i still don't hate the police. Are you kidding me? “Why do people hate the Police?”, I’ll tell you this, the people have good reason to hate the police and that had better be understood. The police see all people in two categories, those that are actively engaged in criminal activities and those that are waiting to engaged in criminal activities. On ever encounter a police doesn’t see a citizen that needs protecting, no they see either, a potential criminal or someone they can make a criminal out of. It’s all black and white to these guys, you are either law enforcement or you are a criminal.

And why not?, I mean we are talking about people here that have a serious problem being human, they have no claims to honesty, integrity, morals, ethics, or compassion. In short they are not what is needed in a society that very capable of policing themselves. Police violate their own stock-in-trade every time they put on that uniform, or business suit. And what is their stock-in-trade? Honesty and Integrity, which a great many of them doesn’t have. If one was to actually look at law enforcement as a whole, what you would learn is that as a whole you’ll see police officers are simply not truthful.

When studying something like this, don’t just look at a single case, but look at cases from all over the world, not to mention that when it comes to lying police officers, America has the most, especially when it comes to selling a story in from of the judge, or the court, where honesty and truth won’t work, they have to resort to their primary nature of lying. In truth these are not GOD fearing people, they resent GOD because, having a belief in GOD denotes a certain amount of decency, which is something they don’t practice.

Have you ever heard the expression, “Letting the fox guard the hen house?”, well what we have here is a case of putting criminals in uniform and giving them Badges and Guns, then telling them to protect us.

I don't know many people who hate the cops, the only people I do know who hate the cops are people who've gotten arrested for theft or something. But other then that, most people generally have respect for cops.

A "cocky" cop is one that goes home to his/her family everyday. An easy going fun loving police officer is the one that gets killed. Try doing a ride along, not for one day, but for at least 10 to see the wide range of BS and stress they have to deal with. These are things that have happened to me in my FIRST year as a police officer. 1. More than 20 fights involving weapons. 2. Shot at. 3. Had a knife pulled on me. 4. Had a GUN pulled on me. 5. 10 High speed chases with dangerous criminals. 6. Killed another man who was trying to kill an innocent person because he wouldn't take him to the next city. (This is where it gets fun). 7. Saved four seperate people by providing emergency care. 8. Kicked in a door I could save a suicidal subject. 9. Talked someone out of pulling the trigger while he had a 12 gauge in his mouth. 10. When I was "driving around doing nothing" caught an attempted rape in progress and stopped it.
Well the list could go on and on and on... and for the best part of all people.. Everyday I have gone to work since I have been a Police Officer I have come home to see my two young children and wife! My sons will not grow up without a dad and my wife will not lose a husband to some doper. They picked that life so they can face the music not me. I'm sorry if I make someone upset and write them a ticket for speeding. However going to work everyday knowing 90% of the people I talk with today would like me dead I do get kind of sour so.. oh well. Oh and by the way.. If im lucky I make one traffic stop a night because im too busy "doing nothing" and instead I am arrested rapists, saving lives, and protecting innocent people.

My parents experienced an arrest from the police the other night for the first time; they were drunk and Disorderly…. Well that’s what my mum was told in the morning....

There are a number of things included in my parent’s story which not only disgust me, but scares me too.

They were not aware they were getting arrested for a start, never mind what for, they weren’t even read there rights, given a phone call, or let them know that my little brother was ringing to find out where they were, or given a phone call.

I was not made aware of this until my little brother rang me in the morning.

My mum is tiny... she wont even weigh 8 stone, yet she was thrown about, she has marks and bruises all up her back, a cut on her head. We also have a witness. The landlord of the pub saw my mum being thrown on the floor, the landlord helped her up, it seems the police didn’t care. It is her job to tell teenagers right and wrong, and to respect the police, she hasn't gone into work today, and she is sat at home crying, as she has been doing all weekend.
Once in the police car, they refused to belt her up, and my mum said to them "Your not bothered are you? your more interested in that KFC your eating" one of the officers then replied "Yea... it's nice"....

There behaviour only gets worse and even more sickening once she is transported to the police station.

My dad seems to have physically suffered the worst... where my mum... well, she’s still in shock...

My dad has badly damaged tissue in his arm. My dad was thrown into the back of a van and transported to the police station, where he suffered a whack to the legs with something. He fell to the floor then experienced the force of four full grown men on the top of him; he as well has all the marks and bruises.

I'm at college at the moment; I don’t have the time to finish off the vulgar behaviour that occurred that night.

There scared to make a complaint, in the case of someone looses there jobs and my parents are then targeted.

I’m only 19, and before this weekend I respected the police and thought they were "the goodies" but that has all now changed... I find my self thinking of them and people who kill and bully, and beat people up, in the same manor.

Like I said, this isn’t even the half of it.

Simply? They abuse their power. And not just in isolated incidents, either. They are perpetual liars and they are ac costumed to getting away with anything. There are hundreds of cases where off-duty police officers have driven their squad cars, while drunk, and injured, even killed, pedestrians. Do you know what the punishment is? One month suspension, without pay. They don't get fired, they don't get desk jobs, they get a small vacation. I can go on and on and on with the atrocities that the cops commit, but it's not worth it.
If I get robbed, though, I will call them up. Is it because I think they'll solve the case, or even help me in any way? No, it's because I don't have a choice. I don't really care for the oil industry either, but when my car runs out of gas I can't pour milk into the tank, I've gotta go to the gas station.
