How come most people don't fill out their profile on AB?

I don't have time for it. I just have to go out and answer. When there are no good questions, I work on mine. I've done quite a lot.

I think it just takes a while for most people to form enough relationships with the others here where they start to realize the value of it. After people hang out a while, they start to ask "who IS this person who keeps making these ((lame, great, funny, strange)) comments?", then they go look at the profile. That reminds them that their OWN profile is weak or nonexistent. If that doesn't work, someone obnoxious like myself comes along one day and gets in their face about it -- I wanna know who I'm talking to, without having to review everyone's answers for the last month to figure it out!

I had mine filled out, then just wiped it all as well as my email when I was harassed by a couple of the "religious right". I can't be bothered to put it back up.

Because people like me forget lol! I don't know how precise I would be, I would not want someone to get ahold of to personal of information.

I think a lot of we newbies do not fill in profiles because we do not feel that we are interesting or important enough to the general populace of the upper eschelons of AB. When we learn how things work and make a few friends who we think may be interested to know about us (gain confidence in our opinions I suppose) Then I am sure that we will indulge ourselves with profile painting. At the moment it is hard enough getting points

What's the worst that can happen if I put up a profile? Why would I not want people to know at least my gender, and a little background? It doesn't have to be a tome of my life story and be terribly specific. I think it is just a "friendly" thing to do, and encourages the same from others. So I did. So far no hate mail or other attacks that I am aware of anyhow.
