  • The story of Romulus and Remus is a myth but there may be some truth to it. Romulus might of been the first king of Rome, but it was unlikely he was brought up by a wolf. The early kings of Rome were probably real people however the first historical documents, written by first century historian Livy, were based on folklore and word of mouth. The stories behind Tarquin the Proud, how his son Sexton raped a young girl and then an army of citizens chased them out and that was how Rome became a republic, could be trusted the most since he was the latest king of Rome, and we do know Rome was a republic after his reign. The stories behind Numa and his ability to talk to the god Jupiter, probably not so much. It's a judgement call; history from that period is sketchy.
