  • In the UK they claim the charges are to reduce the number of cars, so they want people on foot and so don't charge them, but I think if they could get away with it they would charge people for breathing.
  • I have never been on a toll road that allowed foot traffic.
  • The Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol used to charge pedestrians to cross. But when they switched from manned toll boxes to unmanned car barriers they dropped the toll - which I think had only been £0.02. Most tolls in the UK are on motorways, upon which pedestrians are not allowed.
  • Toll roads here are automatic collection which takes a photograph of your license plate and sends you a bill in the mail. I dont think they let people cross on foot, but if you did, and you were wearing a license plate on your back, I am sure they would send you a bill.
  • They're usually highways, you might get a bigger fine than the cost of just paying the booth.
